The Unbreakable: We push ourselves, we challenge our perceptions of limitations, and we know that no matter what the obstacle, we will overcome it. No place better exemplifies that spirit more than Shriners Hospitals for Children-Chicago. I have yet to meet tougher people, than the children who get care and treatment here. This is a house of truly inspirational people, who do not mope around at their current situation, but rather celebrate life and the people around them. It’s not just the kids, but the people who work there, are inspirational as well. We’ve all been to a place where people are just there to earn a paycheck. Shriners is the polar opposite of those places. I’ve been lucky to really get to know a few of their finest employees over the years. Cathleen Himes, Public Relations Specialist, and Kathleen Sweeney, Physical Therapist, live their passion to help these kids daily. For that, I thank and applaud them. For anyone who has never been to Shriners, I invite you to make a visit. There are plenty of opportunities to give your time to help out a great cause. For those of you who don’t know, here is Shriners Mission;
Shriners Hospitals for Children has a mission to:
The main quality (outside of the patients) of this place is that last part of the mission. “This mission is carried out without regard to race, color, creed, sex or sect, disability, national origin or ability of a patient or family to pay.” For this reason alone, they need our help.
As you may or may not know, for the fifth time, I am the coach of the Shriners Marathon Team. Our goal is to raise funds for this wonderful organization that is right in our backyard. My personal goal is to raise $2000 by race day 10/09/16.
I am asking for your help. Help me raise money for this tremendous “House of Unbreakable People”. Whatever you are able to give is appreciated, as just like the marathon, each step/dollar adds up. Visit my fundraising page here to make a donation.
