Time to reflect. Simply stated, I am proud. I am proud of you, I am proud of myself, I am proud of our accomplishments together. I am proud of how all of “this” has brought people together, who encourage and push each other to new heights. Strangers have become friends. A community has been built.
It is only through our relentless mindset and passion, that new, larger, scarier goals are now within reach. We can do anything.
What we are doing here is working. I am thrilled to have added two superstars to our team. Anne, our dietitian, has been inspirational and helpful to our first cohort in the nutrition education program. I look forward to the weekly nutrition meetings and how we can do this on a larger scale with more of you able to join in. Dana, our resident Yoga instructor, in a very short time, has packed the room with “people wo don’t do yoga”. Her unique style has made Yoga accessible to those who once thought they could not do it. Thanks to both of them. We share the same vision. I am glad we are able to work together.
So after 12 weeks, it’s not all puppies and rainbows. We still have work to do, we still have people to motivate, to rip off the couch, to step out of their comfort zones…including some in our team, in our community. You know who you are, and I will not give up on you. I care for you too much to let you slip through the cracks. I realize and respect that we all grow at our own speed, but we must always be moving forward, stubbornly driving past barriers, setbacks and even those who tell you that you can’t do it (especially that one in the mirror!!!!!!!!!).
So now we have a week off to recharge and get away from the grind. Beginning April 30th, we will have a free week of classes, so encourage a friend, co-worker or loved one, who needs to get started doing something for themselves, to join us. This could be the nudge that they need to make a positive change in their lives. They can register here, and selecting the “drop-in $0” option will allow them to register for more than one class.
Then our summer 12 week program will begin May 7th. The schedule has changed slightly. Most notably, there are now 3 classes on Sunday morning. Spartan at 7:30 (which will be making field trips to parks and the forest preserve), then Total Fitness Boot Camp at 8:30 AND 9:30. Yoga is on Monday nights at 6:30 and Saturday mornings at 8:00. If you still haven’t signed up for the summer program, you can do that here.
Enjoy your week off, you deserve it. See you April 30th!
